2019 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
King Machain is a 2021 C/RHP, 1B, 3B with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Farmington Hills, MI who attends Detroit Country Day Upper. King is solid physically and shows present strength and the muscle make-up that will allow further development as he matures. He ran a 7.78 60-yard dash. A primary catcher, King shows a confident set-up and easy, smooth hands as he receives. His 72-mph throws show great effort and his 2.15 pop time is solid. His quick feet and steady actions will allow for fundamental improvement as he gains experience. On the IF, King is steady. He shows sound lower half flexion and his glove plays. He uses his throwing action and 72-mph velocity, to his benefit. At the plate, King employs a narrow base and a big leg lift to time. He shows big torque and present strength that will only get better. He can drive the baseball with some authority. Academically, King is an excellent student.
