Tony Pluta is a 2022 C/RHP/3B with a 5-8 160 lb. frame from Palatine, IL who attends St. Viator. Compact athletic build with good present strength. 7.42 runner in the sixty. Has very good athletic quickness behind the plate, high energy defender. Quick and compact arm action on his throws, tends to rush his exchange instead of trusting his athletic ability, like the flexibility and quickness defensively, will continue to improve with repetitions and maturity. Right handed hitter, loads onto to his backside well and uses his lower half well driving into contact, aggressive swing with present bat speed, hits with intent and has the ability to drive the ball. Also pitched and showed next level ability on the mound, works both sides of the plate with a lively mid-80's fastball from a low 3/4's arm slot. Curveball was a quality second pitch with good late break, power and depth. Threw strikes and attacked hitters aggressively. Nice combination of tools and energy, will keep improving as he lets more fundamentals into his game. Superior student. Named to the Midwest Top Prospect Games Top Prospect List.
