Matt Fober is a 2007 MIF/P with a 5'9'', 180 lb. frame from Columbus GA, who attends Northside HS. He has a short, thick build with some present strength. Fober ran the 60 in 7.72 and threw 77 mph during infield drills. Fober is a smooth fielder with soft hands and balanced movements. His release is quick and he gets outs on balls that he gets to. His range is short for the middle of the field at this point and he needs to work on his speed and quickness for the next level. Offensively, Fober hits from a very open stance with some closure into the ball. He has an inside out swing and shows some wrist strength and the ability to hit the ball hard to the opposite field. He can improve his balance during his swing, which is costing him power and consistency at present. Fober also took a turn on the mound, throwing a heavy 80 mph fastball from a short arm stroke. His 66 mph curveball had pretty tight rotation and some downer break. Fober threw strikes and is probably an effective pitcher at the high school level. His is an outstanding student.
