LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2006 National Showcase
Josh Osich is a 2007 left hand pitcher from Bishop Kelly HS, residing in Boise, ID. Osich has an excellent body. He has a broad upper body and a strong lower half on a 6'3" 190 lb. frame. He looks quite capable of carrying much more future weight and strength. Though 6'3" 190 sounds pretty put together (and he is), Osich is still quite physically projectable. He was seen well by our staff at the Sunshine West showecase and invited to PG National where he eventually was ranked #32 among PG National Top 85 pitchers. From Boise to the national rankings and he has a very nice career ahead of him. Osich fires from an over the top slot and has a long, easy arm action, with good arm speed. With good rhythm in his delivery, that projectable body is even more intriguing. This is a pretty athletic big lefty with upside. His fastball was up to 89 and sat 85-88 mph with plus movement. Osich keeps the fastball down and worked to both sides of the plate, making his fastball on that is good to both right and left hand hitters. His 71-75 mph curveball has big shape and good downward bite. Osich can use that pitch to go below bats for strikeouts or drop it late into the zone to get rollover's and weakly hit ground balls. He can even start it higher and catch some backward K's at the top of the zone. His 79-81 mph change-up sinks and he threw that pitch with plus arm speed. Osich showed excellent pitchability with his three pitch mix, with everything showing good movement. He should continue to climb in velocity while maintaining his ability to throw quality strikes with all pitches. Osich looks college bound but a pretty normal jump in velocity this spring, say to the 88-91 range could move him toward the first half of day one of the draft.
