Jake Kalfayan is a 2022 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-0 150 lb. frame from Morganville, NJ who attends Marlboro. Slender build with long limbs and plenty of room to add strength. Primary left-handed pitcher with simple and repeatable mechanics. Works from an abbreviated forty-five degree start with good rhythm and tempo into a coiled leg lift and slight cross-body release point. Fastball worked in the upper-70s for the duration of his outing, topping out at 81 miles per hour from an extended three-quarters arm slot. Displays advanced command to both sides of the plate with full mix, sequencing his full assortment of pitches in every count. High level pitchability with full assortment of pitches while showing the ability to add and subtract from his fastball and land two secondary offerings for strikes. Changeup is better at present with well-replicated arm speed from a mimicked arm slot. Breaking ball is still in the developmental stages with varying spin profile that will continue to improve with refinement of its shape. Plenty of projection remaining with more velocity in the tank with the addition of strength. Good Student. Named to the 2020 Perfect Game Northeast Academic Top Prospect List.
