2018 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Richard King is a 2020 RHP/1B with a 6-4 180 lb. frame from Pinecrest, FL who attends Westminster Christian. Tall and slender build, lots of room to fill out and get stronger. High leg raise delivery, long and loose arm action, stays tall at his gather then has drop and drive actions down the mound, low effort delivery and release, stays on line well until release. Fastball topped out at 80 mph, mostly straight. Tends to slow arm on curveball but showed good feel for the pitch and threw it for strikes. Key to improvement will be getting stronger and improving his fastball command. Right handed hitter, hits from a tall straight leg stance, has a short mid field oriented line drive swing with occasional lift out front, swung the bat well in games and made consistent solid contact. 7.72 runner, has clean and balanced actions at first base on defense with soft hands, showed good arm strength. Good student.
