2023 Florida Workout Showcase (Friday)
Roman Carlson is a 2025 MIF/C with a 5-6 135 lb. frame from Merritt Island, FL who attends Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy. A compact frame and lean build with a higher set waist. Ran a 7.49 60-yard dash. A primary shortstop who fields it well and has a clean funnel through the middle. Clean fundamental plays with the glove with accurate throws that made the outs at first base. Threw 78 mph across the infield. Also worked out as a catcher with open feet to start and a transfer away from the body as he gains ground working into the throws which were at 73 mph down to second. Comes out of the crouch quick and keeps a lower base. Some quickness to the arm. Produced a 2.08 pop time. A right-handed hitter with higher-set hands and a high-back elbow. Pre-loaded on the back leg with an open base. Hands are very deep in the load, and is able to work uphill as he getts the barrel through the zone. Was able to get a few balls working back up the middle during his round of BP, after working uphill to get on plane with them. Exceptional student.
