Damon Brena is a 2023 C/RHP with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Skokie, IL who attends Niles West. Strong and compact catcher's build. 7.63 runner in the sixty. Showed athletic actions behind the plate defensively, works out of his crouch well and has lateral range and lower half quickness, made accurate throws with very good carry, clean transfers and repeated his footwork. Right handed hitter, hits from a straight stance with good hand position to start his swing, curls and gathers his hips creating some timing inconsistency, showed strength in his swing when his foot was down, gets some jump off the barrel with gap to gap power. Also pitched, works from the wind up with a high leg raise delivery, gets loaded very well onto his back side and into his hips, arm works well. Attacked the strike zone with a fastball that topped out at 86 mph with occasional sink and run. Slider was a very good second pitch with tight spin and deep sweeping action. Two-Way Prospect. Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
