2023 Northeast Top Prospect Games @ Rutgers (Wed-Thur)
John Eddis is a 2027 SS/RHP/IF with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Woodbury Heights, NJ who attends Gloucester Catholic. Medium, compact frame with some lean strength throughout and plenty of time to physically mature. Primary shortstop with smooth, balanced actions throughout the fielding process. Showed plenty of lateral range to either side, funnels cleanly out in-front and showed the ability to make the play on the run extremely well. Produced online, accurate throws up to 81 mph across the diamond. Secondary right-handed pitcher the worked from a quick paced, abbreviated windup with a belt high leg lift into balance and medium stride length out to foot strike. Fastball worked in the mid-to-upper 70s for the majority of his outing with tons of carry through the top of the strike zone and topped out at 80 mph in this look. Proficient strike thrower that used all four quadrants effectively, while pairing his fastball with a well-tunneled slider with late vertical depth to it, will continue to refine overall repertoire and add velocity. Right-handed hitter that hits from a wider, slightly open stance with high, pre-set hand start and a toe-tap trigger. Compact, slightly lofted stroke with rotational lower half mechanics, some quickness to his hands and feel for the barrel. Whole field approach with line drive tendencies and budding gap-to-gap power potential. Projectable, young prospect with two-way upside and offensive prowess, will continue to improve with added strength and physical maturity.
