2018 Mid-Atlantic Prospect Showcase
Jack Laughlin is a 2021 RHP/3B, OF with a 5-9 130 lb. frame from Cortlandt Manor, NY who attends Walter Panas. Compact frame with a lean build. Frame projects for additional strength with continued physical maturity. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Creates slight coil over back leg at gather and worked in line to the plate. Loose arm circle at separation and released from a lower three-quarters arm slot. Fastball produced solid downhill plane with sink in the upper 60's to low 70's, topped at 73 miles per hour. Curveball had 10/5 shape with loose spin and occasional depth. Consistently looked to attack the zone and showed developing feel for each edge of the plate. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing smooth paced footwork while traveling to and working through the baseball. Funnels the baseball out front with soft hands and worked through exchange well. Loose arm circle at separation and released from a three-quarters slot. Throws produced some on line carry to the bag topping at 77 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a spread, slightly open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Coils hands slightly at load and worked to baseball on a naturally lifted path. Looked to life the baseball to the middle of the field and flashed some jump off the barrel to the gaps when squared.
