Cristian Ruiz is a 2023 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-10 140 lb. frame from Oak Lawn, IL who attends Oak Lawn Comm. Slender young athletic build. Primary middle infielder but graded out better as a right handed pitcher at this event. Has a quick and compact arm action on the mound, hides the ball effectively, tight high 3/4's arm slot, has quick hips opening his lower half coming through but tends to fall off to the first base side. Fastball topped out at 81 mph, plenty more velocity there as he gets stronger, curveball showed good depth and spin in the mid-60's. 7.82 runner in the sixty. Showed good balance on defense in the middle infield with active footwork, has the same quick and compact arm action throwing the ball with good carry, balanced charging the ball. Switch-hitter at the plate, hits from a slightly open stance from the right side with a long stride into contact, more open and narrow from the left, has a short downhill arm driven swing from both sides of the plate. Excellent student.
