Derick Morillo is a 2022 SS/RHP with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Trujillo Alto, PR who attends Leadership Christian Academy. Medium frame with a lean and athletic build. Ran a 6.84 second 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, has good balance to his actions, soft hands with good snatch at angles, funnels it cleanly and showed a strong arm clocked up to 88 mph across with good feel for changing slot on the move. Also pitched, worked solely from the stretch with a long and loose arm action, creates good angle producing some run to the arm side on the fastball while showing developing feel for the breaking ball. Righthanded hitter, shows outstanding hand and bat speed, gets great separation as he works through the zone and is able to get good side bend to get the ball in the air and use the strength to generate long carry off the barrel. High ceiling athlete with good projection and athleticism. Good student. Named to 2021 Sunshine East Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
