Marcus Matias is a 2023 OF/LHP with a 5-8 185 lb. frame from Henderson, NV who attends Bishop Gorman. Features a stocky build with some strength present. Ran a 7.12 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder. Showcased good footwork during defensive workouts. Fields the ball well with good momentum through the catchpoint. Creates some carry on throws using a loose arm action. Was accurate with most throws. Threw 76 mph during workouts. Right-handed. Displayed a simple approach that stays through the middle of the field. Creates good direction at the plate. Has feel for the barrel with sound bat to ball skills. Produces hard hit contact often. Left-handed pitcher. Starts hands at the plate before getting into a moderate leg lift. Shows good tempo down the mound. The fastball sat 70-74 mph with the ability to move it around the zone. Creates tight, 12-6 break on curveball in the low-60’s. Can land it for strikes often. Athleticism plays well on the mound. Very good student.
