2006 California Underclass
Troy Scott is a 2007 3B/1B/SS from Auburn HS, residing in Auburn, WA, with a 6'4" 170 lb. frame. Scott was named to the top prospect team at the California Underclass Showcase and was written up in the Top Prospect list. He has a long body that is wiry strong and rangy. He still has PLENTY of room to fill out. As a hitter he showed excellent/+ bat speed. Scott started his very lively swing with a high back elbow, which is part of his timing mechanism to get ready on time. He certainly does have a lively swing. So much of what he hit was alive at contact. Scott's swing is whippy and loose, his hands really work. He has good rhythm and is hips fire on time at contact. Scott has good current day power but has + future power, though it may take a time to come out because he has a lot of size to gain. The more you watch him, the more he grows on you. The more you see him, the more you realize he is a big time LH hitting prospect. On defense Scott showed a good arm and a long arm stroke. His hands are good in the field too. Scott has a lot of elbows and knees flying all over. His feet are best on one of the corners. He does have some feel for defense and is a heady player. Scott did a nice job of staying below the ball. Put high on your '07 prospect list for D1 ball and as a player to follow for the 2007 draft.
