2006 California Underclass
Matt Burrows is a 2007 OF from Auburn Riverside HS, residing in Lake Tapps, WA, with a 5'7" 155 lb. frame. Has a small and compact build. At the plate he showed decent bat speed and hit with a line drive approach. Burrows' swing is quiet and his swing plane is flat. He is a spray, contact hitter with good bat control. He is a rotational hitter whose lead hip works a bit early but his bat tends to stay in the zone pretty well. It is sort of an approach that many Japanese hitters use. Burrows is a good outfielder who sets up very well behind the ball, putting himself in good position to throw. He displayed good rhythm and tempo in the outfield and showed a decent release. He was aggressive to the ball but also maintained good body control. Burrows is not big but he can play a bit. He should be considered a small college follow into next summer.
