2020 West Coast Prospect Showcase
Jeramiah Sotelo is a 2023 C/RHP/3B/OF with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from La Mirada, CA who attends La Mirada. Compact frame with some present physicality to the build. Ran a 7.48 second 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, worked out behind the dish with some quickness working through the ball, gains a ton of ground into throws and shows accuracy to the bag. Also worked out in both the infield and outfield, shows a deliberate approach to the ball at both positions, sits back on it some and has developing arm strength that will improve results on throws. Also pitches, uses a full arm with good arm speed to create downhill action and some sinking life to the fastball to either side of the plate while also flashing a firm curveball with good late bite. Right-handed hitter, sets up slight open and narrow in the lower half, works short to it and rotates through in the upper half, swings hard and finds the barrel at a good rate with quick extension after contact. Very good student.
