Beau Fraser is a 2008 right hand hitting catcher/1st baseman from Aptos HS, residing in La Selva Beach, CA. He has a 6'1" 210 lb. frame with a thick, somewhat mature body. He has a wide core and strong arms that help him produce power with the bat. Fraser plays with good energy and is a leader on the field. Offensively he possesses a short power stroke and a quick bat. His swing is a bit unorthodox but he does a nice job of staying inside the ball and it jumps off his bat, with carry to all fields. He is strong and has the ability to consistently get the barrel to the ball. Defensively Fraser noticeable controls the game and that is tough to do in a showcase with players that are often unfamiliar with each other. He has a field general type presence, though not in a rah-rah manner. His hands are pretty soft and he receives the ball well. It is easy to imagine him being very quiet with his actions when he is catching his own pitchers and knows what to expect of their stuff. Fraser called a good game when he was in there, which was apparent with the quick innings that happened when he was catching. Pitchers looked very comfortable throwing to him. With is strong intangibles and the pop he has in the bat, Fraser should be an asset to a college program.
