Jacob Smith is a 2026 SS/RHP/IF with a 6-2 207 lb. frame from Winston Salem, NC who attends Reagan. Larger, physical frame with broad shoulders, plenty of present strength and room to fill out. Recorded a 7.39 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary infielder that worked downhill through the baseball, showed a clean funnel out in-front and displayed athletic actions throughout despite his larger stature. Exhibited some lateral range to either side and displayed sound footwork into release, recorded accurate throws up to 85 mph across the diamond during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from an abbreviated windup with a higher leg lift into balance and drop-and-drive lower half mechanics. Proficient strike thrower with sinking life to his fastball from a loose, whippy three-quarters arm slot. Landed slurve shaped breaking ball with promising spin rates in the high 2200s and some horizontal sweep to it. Flashed firm changeup for swings-and-misses to complete three-pitch mix. Showed ability to command both sides of the plate, generate weak contact and get empty swings when ahead in the count. Tons of velocity projection remaining with huge upside. Right-handed hitter that hits from a wider, open stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and hanging leg lift. Incorporates deep bat wrap into launch, while creating some separation and torque with his lower half. Intent based swing with present bat speed and some burgeoning power potential as he refines things mechanically. Whole field approach due to swing path, gets on-plane early and stays there through extension. Developing feel for the barrel that will improve with minor adjustments. Immensely projectable, young prospect with legitimate arsenal on the mound and upside remaining offensively. High level pitchability and more velocity in the tank. Excellent Student. Verbally committed to North Carolina State University.
