2023 14U National Showcase
Mac Morris is a 2027 SS/RHP/IF with a 5-10 162 lb. frame from Taylors, SC who attends Wade Hampton. A medium frame and athletic build. Strength throughout, with some physicality. Ran a 7.15 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop who moved well and had hard throws across the diamond at 90 mph. He showed off a good backhand as well, showing the pocket early to work through it well. He had snatchy hands working up the middle with real athletic actions throughout his round of throws. He also worked out as an outfielder, getting extended through it with a workable crow hop through release with throws at 91 mph from the outfield. Strong round of throws with tons of arm speed through release. He had a quick first step and good actions overall. Over-the-top release with great carry on his throws. He's a right-handed hitter with a wider base and a big stride forward through contact. He starts with the hands set high and the back elbow up. He separates well and is explosive through the zone. He created some good jump off the barrel. Showed a great round of BP swings. Threw 88 mph during PG Tech testing. He added 4 hits in-game as well. Also took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher who showed off good arm strength on the bump, throwing from a higher three-quarters arm slot. He worked from the stretch only. He had a leg lift up above the belt. He created some downhill on the fastball that worked up to 88 mph. He showed a slider in the mid-70s with good shape to it, showing a 10/4 shape to it. He mixed the two pitches well during his outing. He ramped up a bit throughout the outing and settled in nicely. Threw a solid inning and punched out an opposing hitter. Verbal commitment to South Carolina. Named to the 2023 14u Perfect Game Select Festival.
