2006 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Carson Pillar is a 2007 RHP with a 6'6'', 220 lb. frame from Mississauga ON, who attends Lorne Parke HS. He has a extra large frame and very good present strength. Pillar was a primary outfielder until a year ago and is still learning and developing as a pitcher. He throws from a 3/4's to mid 3/4's release point with a cross body, low extended arm action. His delivery and arm action make it diffcult for him to pitch away from right handed hitters and to stay consistently on top of his curveball. Pillar has a fast arm with some effort on release out front. His fastball was 85-88 mph with hard running action to right handed hitters. He showed good spin on his curveball when he was able to stay on top of it. He also mixed in a 77 mph change up. Pillar is a very good athlete who shows some feel for pitching. When he gets his mechanics figured out he could blossom. Pillar is also an very good student.
