Cal Barna is a 2021 RHP/C with a 6-3 175 lb. frame from Piedmont, CA who attends Piedmont. Large frame with lean, projectable build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.59 seconds. Primary pitcher, quick delivery with side step to initiate, drops and drives downhill, clean arm stroke with arm speed to mid-3/4 slot, fastball worked 87-89 mph with good riding life, works to the edges with ease, good tempo, showed curveball with 11/5 shape, also flashed changeup. Hits from wide-spread stance, clean hand load, tends to create pull-side approach with hips leaking, good strength pull-side, projects for power. Worked out behind the plate, longer stride out of crouch, stands up to throw, clocked up to 79 mph down to 2nd base. Best upside is on the mound. Named to 2020 National Uncommitted Showcase Top Prospect List, very good student.
