Peter Verdin is a 2008 OF/RHP with a 6'0'', 185 lb. frame from Alexandria, VA who attends Paul VI HS. He has an athletic build with good strength and excellent body life. Verdin's speed/arm strength tools rank with the best in the country. He didn't run the 60 but was 4.09 to first base and can fly on the bases. Verdin threw 94 mph during outfield drills with a long, loose arm that gets excellent low online carry to the bases. Offensively, Verdin gets to his front side early and has a quick, contact oriented swing. His hands are very quick and he has good bat speed. It looks like Verdin has been trained in the "make contact and run like heck" style of hitting and that might be doing a diservice to his present tools. He has the bat speed and strength to drive the ball to the gaps if he were to expand his game in that direction and his speed could be turning doubles into triples instead of 6-3 putouts into singles. It will be interesting to see how he develops offensively. Verdin is a very good student who has a verbal commitment to Georgia.
