2005 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Cameron Nester is a 2006 C/OF with a 6'0'', 195 lb. frame from Marietta, Georgia, who attends Sprayberry High School. Has present strength in his body that will make him durable behind the plate. Nester has solid arm strength on his throws with good accuracy. He consistently popped times around 2.00, and could be even quicker with a better glove to release time. He moved well behind the plate showing agility and the ability to block balls. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with solid bat speed. He gets great leverage at the point of contact which helps produce raw power and strength in his swing. Nester stays in on curveballs well, and has the ability to drive the ball to the opposite field gap. He hit very well during the Showcase games using the whole field which will allow him to hit for a high average, as well as with power. He runs well for a catcher, and has good upside to his game. Nester is also a very good student.
