2018 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Adam Wilkerson is a 2021 LHP/OF with a 5-10 143 lb. frame from Harrisburg, NC who attends Hickory Ridge HS. Medium frame with a lean build. Projects for additional strength. Primary left handed pitcher with a side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side with coil over back leg at gather. Lands in line with the plate and works over a flexed front side. Quick arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed some jump out of hand with run to arm side in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 78 miles per hour. Curveball showed 1/7 shape with looser spin and solid depth in the upper 60's. Displayed developing feel for the edges of the zone, primarily looked to challenge hitters down. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing clean footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Funnels the baseball well and maintained momentum to target while working through transition. Throws generated some on line carry to the bag topping at 81 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a balanced, slightly open stance and leg lift trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to baseball and employed a linear barrel plane through extension. Flashed the ability to get barrel head out front and produce sharp contact to the middle of the field between the gaps when on time and squared. Good student as well.
