Josh Hartsfield is a 2020 3B/RHP with a 5-10 142 lb. frame from Goldsboro, NC who attends Wayne School of Engineering. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.35 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, fields the ball out front with some bend at waist, takes short steps moving towards the ball with quickness to feet, remained accurate with throws when on the charge and can throw from multiple release points. Graded out higher on the mound in this look, repeats mechanics well and shows balance to them. Gets tall on backside, some coil behind high leg lift with hip turn, shorter arm action through the back and shows quickness working to a three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 80 mph, nice running life to arm side on the pitch and can work inside to lefthanded hitters well. Locates curveball to both sides of the plate, shows 11-5 shape with tight rotation at 69 mph. Flashed changeup at 72 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and high hand set and back elbow to start, pulls hands back during load. Stays short to the ball and shows a linear swing path through the zone. Upper body dominant swing, gets the barrel through and to the ball, can continue to incorporate additional lower half into weight shift. Very good student.
