2019 PG Fall Top Prospect National Showcase
Blake Barquin is a 2021 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-5 215 lb. frame from Lakeland, FL who attends McKeel Academy of Technology. Ran a 7.75 second sixty-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher with a tall frame and strong build. Has good tempo to the delivery, creating torque at the top of the leg lift as well. Hides the ball well with a deep take back, releasing from a low three-quarter slot and getting some natural sink to the fastball at 80-84 miles per hour. Flashes feel to land a changeup with good depth and matching hand speed at 76, and also feel to spin a tight slider with near cutter-like action across the zone at 74 miles per hour. Also worked out in the infield, staying tall through the fielding process and making accurate throws across the diamond at 82 miles per hour. Right-handed hitter with a slightly open stance, high hand set and high back elbow. Gets on plane quickly and with developing strength in the swing. Excellent student.
