2019 Mid-Atlantic Prospect Showcase
Brian Young is a 2021 LHP/1B/OF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Neptune, NJ who attends Communications. Medium frame with athletic, projectable build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.46 seconds. Primary lefthanded pitcher, simple and repeatable mechanics that work well downhill, three quarters slot with downhill plane, fastball worked in the mid-upper 70's and peaked at 81 mph, good arm side life to the pitch, worked in curveball with short 1/7 shape and solid fading changeup as well. Hits from wide-based stance, loads onto back side, chopping path downhill, showed some pop pull side. Worked out in the outfield, clean actions with easy movements, fields cleanly, bounce to footwork, clocked up to 86 mph on throws, arm works well. Good student.
