Mason Montes is a 2022 OF/RHP with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Huntington Beach, CA who attends Mater Dei. Solid athletic build with good present strength and room for more. Very good runner, 6.67 in the sixty, runs hard and speed plays up on the bases. Showed athletic actions in the outfield, quick to the ball, big crow hop into his throws with a fast and compact arm action, big carry on his throws. Right handed hitter, has a long and loose swing with good present bat speed, puts the ball in the air and creates good back spin, showed feel for the barrel as well as his power potential. Took a turn on the mound, has a high 3/4's arm slot with some cross body action out top, throws around his core on the mound. Fastball topped out at 84 mph to go with a big breaking sharp slider that he could have thrown more. High level athlete with a promising future. Very good student. Named to the Sunshine West Showcase Top Prospect List.
