John Ochoa is a 2018 LHP/OF with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Littleton, CO who attends D'Evelyn Junior/Senior. Large frame with long limbs and an athletic build. Frame projects to support additional size and strength. Ran a 7.23 sixty-yard dash. Primary left handed pitcher with a simple rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall on side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Long arm circle back at separation and released from a loose three-quarters arm slot. Showed some feel for fastball offering with the ability to located to the outer edge of the plate in the mid 70's, topped at 77 miles per hour. Curveball had 1/7 shape with softer spin and some depth in the low 60's. Also showed a straight changeup in the mid 60's, tends to slow arm speed with pitch. Consistently filled the zone and changed speeds inducing weak contact through each inning of work. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth, fluid footwork while closing to the baseball. Funnels the baseball with square hips and works through transition cleanly. Long arm circle at separation and released from a loose three-quarters slot. Throws produced uphill carry to the bag topping at 77 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Lower half works to contact with linear actions producing good shift. Hands works to a lower launching position at load and work through the zone on a level, line drive plane. Primarily worked the ball to the middle of the field and showed some jump off the barrel when squared. Good student.
