Diego Salinas is a 2018 SS/RHP with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Murrieta, CA who attends Murrieta Mesa. Medium frame with a lean build. Projects for additional strength. Ran a 7.69 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with smooth paced footwork while rounding the baseball. Clean, fluid glove actions while funneling the baseball out front with quick exchanges. Gets the baseball out quickly producing accurate, on line carry to the bag topping at 74 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Creates some shift into contact with linear lower half actions. Loose, extended path to contact with an uphill plane through extension. Flashed good feel for the barrel and utilized a mid-field, line drive approach throughout batting practice. Also pitched utilizing a side step to medium leg lift delivery. Creates coil over back leg showing both pockets and numbers at gather. Tends to swing front side while working to plate and lands at a closed position. Generated some cross fire while releasing from a high three-quarters arm slot. Attacked the zone with a fastball that flashed some downhill angle through the zone in the low to mid 70's, topped at 75 miles per hour. Good student.
