Zachary McKinnis is a 2021 RHP/OF with a 6-2 182 lb. frame from Springfield, MO who attends Kickapoo. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.23 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, side step moving into delivery with a high leg lift up past belt; gets tall on backside and remains short and compact through the backside working to a high three-quarters release point. Strides open coming down the mound, can incorporate additional lower half into drive. Hides the fastball, topped out at 86 mph with short sinking life down in the zone and able to induce ground ball contact, will get inconsistent with release point at times. Curveball shows 12-6 shape with bite when down in the zone and maintains arm speed on the pitch, up to 75 mph with the pitch and showed ability to land it. Loose arm in the outfield and stays compact, fields the ball to side, occasionally gets uphill with release, worked around the base with throws. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a toe tap trigger for timing at release. Upper body dominant swing, linear path through the zone, shows ability to get the barrel out front with contact to pull side. Excellent student. Verbal commitment to Missouri.
