Alex Esker is a 2021 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-2 164 lb. frame from St.Louis, MO who attends Christian Brothers College HS. Large frame with a lean build an wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary left handed pitcher with a simple delivery. Stays balanced at gather and tends to land on a slightly closed front side at release. High three-quarters arm slot that generating some downhill plane through the zone with fastball in the low to mid 70's, topped at 75 miles per hour. Developing feel for 1/7 breaking ball that flashed some bite when maintaining arm speed through extension. Consistently looked to challenge hitters at the bottom of the zone with developing feel for the outer edges. Left handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Worked to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose path to contact with an uphill plane through extension. Looks to clear hips to get barrel head out front to contact. Primarily worked to the middle of the field and pull side gap. Good student as well.
