Sheldon Ott is a 2022 1B/LHP with a 6-5 225 lb. frame from Newton, AL who attends Houston Academy. Extra big and strong well proportioned athletic build with room to get even stronger. Left handed hitter, hits from a spread and open stance with a good lower half shift in, pretty simple load and swing approach, hits under control but develops big raw bat speed and can really impact the ball when he's barreled up and on time, smooth and fluid swing, has a ceiling as a hitter. Primary first baseman on defense, has nice overall actions at first base, showed nice hands and footwork picking balls in games, solid arm strength with the ability to make accurate throws from multiple arm slots, will be an asset at first base on defense. Also pitched, simple rotational delivery with some upper body stiffness, repeats his mechanics well. Fastball topped out at 81 mph with some running action and throws his fastball for strikes. Also throws a short slider with some idea how to locate the pitch. Very good student. Named to the Sunshine Gulf Coast Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
