Hunter Otjen is a 2020 SS/RHP, 3B, OF with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Point Loma. Medium frame with an athletic build. Frame projects to support additional strength with continue physical maturity. Ran a 7.33 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with smooth, clean footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Hands work well while funneling the baseball and working to back hand. Fluid exchanges while working through transfer and released from a three-quarters arm slot topping at 79 miles per hour across the infield. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth paced, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Glove actions while picking up baseball and working through exchange. Long arm circle at take back and released from a similar three-quarters slot. Topped at 82 miles per hour generating accurate, on line carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and high back elbow set. Aggressively shifts into contact with linear lower half actions. Loose hand path to baseball with a naturally lifted plane through extension. Generated solid bat speed when matching plane and produced solid backspin with carry when squared. Also pitched working exclusively from the stretch. Compact leg lift at gather and utilized lower half well while driving to the plate. Flashed some arm speed through extension while releasing form a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed some running life to arm side in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 79 miles per hour. Slider had some spin with shorter tilt to glove side in the upper 60's. Primarily attacked hitters with fastball offering and flashed solid heavy action through the zone when staying in tempo through release. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Excellent student.
