Nicholas McManus is a 2007 2B/RHP with a 6'1'', 170 lb. frame from Temecula CA, who attends Great Oak. McManus has a large frame with a nice projectable build. Defensively he has solid arm strength with carry on his throws. McManus' velocity in the workout is not indicitive of his arm strength as he threw 85 mph off the mound in game. He moves around well defensively and has solid footwork through the ball. At the plate he starts with a straight stance and uses a toe tap trigger as a timing mechanism. He stays nice and balanced through his swing and showed a good line drive swing path. McManus stayed in well on breaking pitches in game and showed good pitch recognition. McManus pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action. He throws with minimal effort and uses a slight drop and drive approach to his mechanics. His curveball has sharpness to it and also throws a change up that has nice sink and armside run. McManus has good control and was around the plate with all three pitches. He is also a very good student.
