James Derflinger is a 2023 SS/RHP, IF with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Villa Park, CA who attends Crean Lutheran.Feature a medium build with athleticism present. Very good runner. Ran a 6.67 60-yard dash. Worked out on the infield. Displays the ability to move well laterally with a quick first step. Sound footwork helps get around ground balls well. Showcased a strong arm across that can make throws using different arm angles. Threw 87 mph during workouts. Right-handed hitter. Utilizes an upright stance with a linear path through the zone. Approach stays middle to pullside. Flashed quick hands and good bat speed through the zone. Can hit balls with authority well when driven to the big part of the field. Right-handed pitcher. Uses athleticism well down the mound. Slight crossfire landing adds some deception. Throws from a high 3/4 slot. The fastball topped out at 85 mph. Showed the ability to move it to both sides of the plate. Pared it with a hard breaking curveball that sat in the low-70’s. Creates quality 12-6 on the offering. Excellent student. Named to the West Coast Top Prospect Games Top Prospect List.
