Javier E Cruz Aponte is a 2021 C/RHP, 1B, 3B with a 5-5 135 lb. frame from Ceiba, PR who attends International Baseball Academy. Young, square shouldered frame with a young and projectable build, room to grow and develop moving forward. Ran an 8.29 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, taller stance behind plate in drills, gains short ground with lower half coming out, receives the ball out front and funnels into a compact arm action, accurate throws, arm strength will continue to develop moving forward.Also pitched, simple delivery on the mound with a similar short arm action through the back; worked exclusively off fastball and topped out at 64 mph, flashed running life to arm side when on top of the ball. Righthanded hitter, begins with a narrow and open stance, loads hands bat at start of swing. Upper body dominant swing with limited shift through lower half. Employs a contact oriented approach and comfort working to the pull side and middle parts of the field; full swing path through the zone with occasional lift out front. Very good student.
