Josh Young is a 2017 RHP/1B with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Louisville, TN who attends William Blount. Large frame with strong, athletic present build to go along with solid projection remaining on body. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.52 seconds. Primary pitcher, shows good rhythmic tempo through delivery, compact and repeatable delivery without too many moving parts. Short stride in line with the plate, lands online and is able to clear hips well. Stands tall on backside and uses lower half well. Works quickly, employs short and quick arm action up to high three quarters arm slot, creating good downhill plane to the plate. Fastball worked anywhere from 76-83 MPH with heavy, late running life in on the hands of right-handed hitters. Showed curveball with 10/4 shape and good tight rotation and late depth, maintains arm speed on the pitch and is effective at getting swings-and-misses with it. Did a good job of commanding the zone consistently. Sets up to hit from wide stance, upright and open, with high hands and a high back elbow. Hits off backside and stays committed to the field, has strength in swing and is willing to work to all fields with opposite-field comfort. Outstanding student.
