James Box is a 2016 SS/OF/RHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Temecula, CA who attends Temecula Valley HS. Box has a lean build with room to fill out and add strength. Hits from a square stance, uses a leg lift trigger. Hands stay inside baseball on swing plane. Hits to all fields with line drive swing plane. Defensively, 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action, fields ball deep in body, has clean transfer and release. Also pitched. Short arm action to a low 3/4 slot. Loose arm action. Fastball had good sink and run creating soft ground ball contact. Slider showed sweeping action and developing tilt. Good Student.
