Justin Long is a 2019 RHP/ with a 6-0 220 lb. frame from Chino Hills, CA who attends Katella. Large frame with a solid build and present strength. Ran a 8.19 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a smooth paced, balanced delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather while creating slight hip tilt, utilizes lower half well while driving on line to the plate. Creates some stick deep in back at separation and releases from a long three-quarters arm slot. Arm works well out front and generated good downward angle with a fastball that ranged between 78-82 miles per hour. Fastball flashed solid heavy actions through the zone that induced weak ground ball contact when located down in the strike zone. Curveball has 11/5 shape with some rotation and rolling depth in the upper 60's to low 70's. Consistently filled the strike zone with the ability to work each edge of the plate at times. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing smooth footwork while surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball out front and works through transition with fluidity. Flashed solid first step quickness with developing range to each side. Topped at 80 miles per hour across the infield creating accuracy, on line carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and high back elbow set. Employs a leg lift trigger and shifts into contact with linear lower half actions. Barrel comes through the zone on a compact, line drive path with natural leverage through extension. When on time, shows present bat speed and strength that can split each outfield gap. Consistently squared up contact throughout batting practice and produced hard line drive contact. Good student.
