Connor Nichols is a 2022 C/MIF, OF, RHP with a 5-5 125 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Cypress Ranch. Young, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable frame with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.53 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, compact set behind the plate, receives the ball out front and comes out of crouch well, gains ground with long stride, will have to shorten stride in live action, ball comes out of hand well and shows accuracy with carry when on top, nice tools to build on. Graded out best in the infield this look, fields the ball out front and shows skills with glove, funnels well into a fuller arm action, longer strides to the ball, shows balance to actions, extra step into release. Short and quick steps in the outfield, incorporates a crow hop to gain momentum, energy to the ball and repeats sound mechanics, arm strength will continue to increase. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Slightly open stance, uses a high leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Occasionally mistimed and opens front side early, swings with intent and looks to lift the ball at point of contact. Also pitched, leg lift up to belt with a coil at top of delivery, full arm action through release, mostly arm at release with a three-quarters arm action. Short stride down the mound, worked exclusively out of the stretch, fastball topped out at 72 mph and flashed an 11-5 shaped curveball up to 57 mph. Very good student.
