2006 National Underclass Showcase
Christopher Knott is a 2009 3B/OF/P with a 6'3'', 170 lb. frame from Brandon FL, who attends Riverview HS. He has a long, lean tall build with very good projection. Knott was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team. Knott is a two-way prospect with high level potential on both sides of the ball. He has a pitcher's build but a position prospect's actions. Defensively, Knott has very good arm strength from the outfield. He moves well to the ball and looks like he'll be solid defensively. He's a right handed hitter who hits out of a spread, upright stance with a hand hitch to get his bat going. Knott has some effort in his swing but has very good bat speed for his age and lots of power and extension in his swing. There is a bit of all or nothing in his approach but Knott is aggressive and is attacking the ball, which is very good in a young hitter with his tools. As a pitcher, Knott has very, very smooth and easy pitching mechanics, which gives him the ability to command all his pitches well. His fastball was 83-85 mph with good life down in the zone. Knott's threw a 72 mph slider that had nice late break when he was on top of it and showed a good feel for his change up as well. Knott's pitching ceiling is very high, increased velocity will come easily as he gets stronger and he already has excellent mechanics and a feel for all his pitches. He has a big upside both ways. Top follow.
