Ashton Essex is a 2023 3B/RHP/1B/OF with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Jackson, GA who attends Locust Grove. Big and strong build, especially in his lower half. Right handed hitter, hits from a slightly open stance with a strong shift into his swing, will get out front too much time and lose his leverage, swing is short and strong with good present bat speed and the ability to create jump. 7.85 runner in the sixty. Corner infielder on defense, is light on his feet for his size and some lower half quickness and life, can make plays on the move and shows good arm strength, will be an asset at either corner. Also worked out in the outfield. Has a catcher's build and tool set but that's the only position he didn't play at this event. Also pitched, works quickly with a high leg raise delivery and a 3/4's arm slot, lands open out front but repeats his mechanics well. Filled up the strike zone with a fastball that topped out at 83 mph to go with a solid breaking ball. Good student. Named to the Summer Main Event Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
