LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2006 National Showcase
Brian Fletcher is a 2007 right hand hitting middle infielder from Starr's Mill HS, residing in Fayetteville, GA. Fletcher has an average athletic build on a strong 6'1" 185 lb. frame. Fletcher only played in one game (no BP) but made a big impression in that one game. He was one of the most exciting players to watch in the showcase. He was ranked #40 among PG National Top 100 position players. Fletcher is a "baseball player" that has usable tools. He hits from a slightly open stance and attacks hitting in an aggressive, but controlled manner. Fletcher went easily to the pull side and showed off a short, power stroke that surprised many, if not most of the scouts in the stands. Standing in the box he is a good looking player, but does not particularly have the look of a power hitter. He may not be a "power hitter" but is a line drive, gap hitter that has enough to power to leave the yard. He is a good athlete and looks like the type that is going to get better and better as he continues to play against top competition. In the infield Fletcher showed that he has very good hands and was excellent at 2nd base. That being said, he was good at shortstop, just exceptional at 2nd base. His range is good and his instincts are a plus. The one word that comes to mind when watching Fletcher on defense is "player." Fletcher ran 4.37 home/1st with a 6.90 60 yard time. He is a top end, impact D1 player but will also get pro interest, as he should. Fletcher is the son of former MLB infield Scott Fletcher.
