Trent Hoogerwerf is a 2018 C/ with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from Iowa City, IA who attends Regina Catholic. Large frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Ran a 7.10 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a low, side set stance while receiving. Gains ground while working out of crouched with quick, sound footwork. Clean, efficient exchanges while working through transfer and released from a compact three-quarters slot. Throws produced very accurate carry to the bag with carry topping at 77 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 1.94. Right handed hitter with a slight crouched, even stance and simple front side trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational actions. Loose, extended path to contact with a slightly lifted plane through extension. Showed present bat speed through the zone when turning barrel to baseball. Ball jumped off the barrel producing solid carry to the pull side gap whens squared. Good student as well.
