Ryan Tapply is a 2018 RHP/2B with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Wayland, MA who attends Wayland High School. Younger player with a lean, slender build, athleticism, and room to fill out physically. Posted a 7.05 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher, started on the first base side of the rubber, utilized a long arm action, big arm circle, landing online, and threw from a three quarter arm slot. Minimal effort to delivery, could use additional drive from lower half, and finishing with a heel turn towards first base. His fastball showed sink to the lower third of the zone at 72-75/76 mph and got chase swings out of the zone. Showed a curveball with depth at 61 mph and developing feel for a changeup as well. Also worked out in the infield, showed developing actions and changed arm slot well. At the plate, started with a wide base, medium hand set, slight toe tap. Showed raw bat speed at the plate with a linear swing plane. Will improve with additional strength in frame. Good student.
