Jason Porter is a 2017 LHP/OF with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Austin, TX who attends Akins HS. Strong compact build, especially in the lower half. High leg raise delivery, will lose balance at times, smooth and directional once he starts moving forward, compact arm action that hides the ball well and gives deception, loose arm, uses lower half well, high 3/4's arm slot with good downhill plane on his pitches. Low 80's fastball, topped out at 83 mph, mostly straight with occasional arm side life, shows good command of his fastball to both sides of the plate. Slider and curveball are similar in shape but vary in power and lateness, tight spin with occasionally deep 2/8 shape. Did not observe a change up and would benefit from one. Has nice feel for pitching and will get outs. Left handed hitter, wide base with a short uphill swing, showed good pull power in games and has some strength in his barrel. Good student.
