Alec Smudde is a 2018 C with a 5-9 140 lb. frame from Pace, FL who attends Milton HS. Compact-medium frame, lean build, has some room to continue filling out. Worked out behind the plate, showed a quick transfer with some looseness, fluidity, and overall quickness to actions in defensive workouts. Receives the ball well, gets the ball out of his hand quickly from lower arm slot release. Popped as low as 2.10 seconds in defensive drills. Right handed hitter, narrow base with shift into contact. Keeps hands short, stays inside the ball and displayed solid feel for the barrel. Handles the bat well, best contact when extended and pulling the baseball. Repeats contact-oriented approach well, has solid rhythm and mechanics. Will continue to improve with additional strength and physical maturity. Outstanding student.
