2015 Northeast Underclass Showcase
Matt Shilling is a 2017 SS/RHP with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Blue Bell, PA who attends Wissahickon. Medium athletic frame with solid present build and good physical projection remaining. Hits from slightly wrapped start, leg lift trigger, quick hands generating good bat speed through the zone with natural loft. Made consistent hard contact in BP and game, driving the ball to all parts of the ballpark with developing power. Showed well defensively, with quick first step and athletic agility to both sides; fields cleanly and has very quick exchange, throws from lower slot with quick release and hit as high as 84 MPH across the diamond. Pitched as well, showing quick, easy arm action as part of an overall smooth and repeatable delivery. Throws from 3/4 slot and gets good running action on FB, which worked 81-84. Showed good depth on CB with late snap, and did good job of throwing strikes with both pitches. Projects well in every facet. Named to 2015 Northeast Underclass Showcase Top Prospect List. Good student.
