Thomas Bateman is a 2018 SS/RHP/3B with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Cedar Hills, UT who attends Lone Peak HS. Has a long, lean build with square shoulders and a medium frame, plenty of room to fill out as he continues to mature physically. Posted a 7.59 60-yard dash. From the infield, does a nice job of fielding the ball out in front with quick and clean transfers, solid hands. Developing arm strength on throws with good accuracy from a 3/4 arm slot, shorter arm action with wrist flick. At the plate, right-handed hitter that starts with a wide base, slightly open stance, and a high hand set. Swings starts with a small stride, slight bat wrap and some hip coil, hands extended back on load. Full swing on a line drive swing plane. Showed solid middle to pull side contact, developing extension through the baseball. On the mound, throws from a high 3/4 to over the top arm slot with medium to long arm action and good looseness throughout. Showed downward angle and plane while working down in the strike zone while pounding the strike zone with his fastball. Developing ability to keep lower half online on during delivery. Slider flashed tight break with some depth. Changeup showed fading action. Delivery has deception. Good student.
